Albion 2024
Solaris/Bacchus white blend
£16.00
A new wine from two new vineyards - Albion is a white blend, made from Solaris and Bacchus, grown in Wantage in Oxfordshire, and Marlow in Buckinghamshire. This is a fresh, spritzy, aromatic white that is seriously refreshing!
The Oxfordshire Solaris and Bacchus were handpicked on 8th October 2024 and whole-bunch pressed that afternoon before being cold-settled for 2 days. The juice was then transferred to a ceramic 'barrel' for fermentation, which happened spontaneously so there was no need to add any yeast. A small amount of Bacchus grown in Marlow was added to this, after that wine had finished fermentation in a stainless steel tank. The blended wine was moved to two old oak barrels, where it naturally underwent malo-lactic fermentation and was left to settle over winter. Bottled in April 2025 by hand, unfined and unfiltered, with 538 finished bottles.
This is a light and refreshing wine with a slight spritz - think Vinho Verde. Bursting with lovely elderflower, citrus and tropical aromas, clean and light on the palate, with a really refreshing finish. Served nice and chilled, I think this is a great aperitif wine or something to have with lighter foods.
Available above individually or in cases of 6.
