Pinot Noir 2024
Clayhill Vineyard, Essex
£22.00
This is the second pure Pinot Noir I've made, again from fruit grown at Clayhill Vineyard in the Crouch Valley, Essex. A more favourable year to be making still wines than the damp and cool 2023, the fruit in 2024 was in absolutely perfect condition.
Harvested on 18th October 2024, the grapes were put into an open-top wooden fermenter - 75% de-stemmed, 25% whole-cluster, and allowed to ferment naturally (no added yeast). Following 10 days maceration on the skins, the grapes were then basket-pressed to a single 4 year-old French oak barrel, where the wine finished alcoholic fermentation and naturally completed malo-lactic fermentation. It was then left to settle and age for 18 months, before being bottled in May 2026, unfined and unfiltered, with only 290 finished bottles made.
This Pinot has a really inviting, fresh, juicy red fruit nose. The wine is smooth and light, with lots of red fruits on the palate. I think it's best served a little chilled, and can be enjoyed on its own, with grilled meat, or anything you would have at a BBQ!
Available above individually or in cases of 6.
